The desire for freedom, the pleasure of being outdoors, the desire to meet yourself. On an excursion, it is easy to find a bit of all this, even after a period of forced closure.

Thanks to the good weather, we invite you to put on your boots and put your backpack on your shoulder … Ready? Let’s go! Here are the most beautiful routes to face, alone or in company, in Le Marche.

Let’s start from the Grand Canyon of our house: the Marmitte dei Giganti in Fossombrone. Here there is a unique phenomenon throughout Italy: a narrow ravine dug by the Metauro river, even thirty meters deep. For walkers there is the possibility of descending a path that runs alongside the river. Kayak and sup lovers can instead get carried away by the current. For those who just want to take a “look,” there is the possibility to go up to Diocletian’s bridge and look underneath … the show will be guaranteed!

If you want to climb to altitude, we recommend an excursion to the cross of Mount Catria. It’s also very suggestive. Once you reach the top, you will seem to have reached Heaven. It will certainly not be the roof of the world, but from here the view is surely assured.

In the province of Pesaro and Urbino, you will also find a suggestive rock, those are called Balza Forata. A show to be admired in the Val d’Abisso. The path starts from the sanctuary of Santa Maria, in Piobbico. It is not difficult to get there, the beautiful landscape will help you to find the way.

It is one of the most popular paths in the Marche region, capable of opening your eyes to a truly breathtaking panorama, the Passo del Lupo on Mount Conero. The colors and smells of the Mediterranean scrub will open up a road leading to a beautiful lookout, a natural balcony about 500 meters high, that will drive your gaze into the wonderful Due Sorelle beach.

For trekking a bit more challenging we recommend two ways on the Sibillini mountains. The first starts from the dam of Lake Fiastra and will take you to the Lame Rosse. A fantastic landscape accessible with a slight difficulty towards the end when the ground becomes totally gravelly.

It takes a little more preparation to get to Lake Pilato instead. You will find yourself at almost a thousand meters above sea level in front of an uncontaminated body of water. It is the only natural lake in the Marche region.

Among the walks to be done in the fairy nature of the Marche, a nice excursion can also be done during the day, to Gole dell”Infernaccio. The itinerary is also suitable for families with children.

Speaking of children, gnomes and fairies… have you ever been to the Canfaito beech forest? The Regional Natural Reserve of Mount San Vicino and Mount Canfaito will welcome you to the “Tibet” of the Marche region. You can easily get to Elcito by car, a medieval village perched on a spur of rock. From here get back to driving to reach the crossroads for the Canfaito forest. Enter inside to discover the enchantment of nature. Beautiful, is it not? Welcome to a fairy tale!

nd speaking of fairy tales in the area, we recommend two excursions: one to the enchanted Sefro forest. Bring your kids here. A very short walk but capable of conquering even the great ones. If you want to continue, we suggest the Montelago plateau or the suggestive Valle della Scurosa.

Finally in Pioraco, in the land of paper and kisses, the fairytale path of Li Vurgacci. Here is the water of the Potenza river having designed the landscape. The route is about 500 meters and can be covered in an hour but you will find yourself stopping again and again fascinated by the landscape.

Ready to go … the Marche is truly a region to discover!
